Understanding COVID-19 Epidemics: A Multi-Scale Modeling Approach

نویسندگان

چکیده

COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020 and, since then, research on mathematical modeling became imperative and very influential to understand epidemiological dynamics of disease spreading control under different scenarios. In this chapter, two approaches model spread are presented. The frameworks described results presented connection with current situation vaccination roll-out. This chapter is structured as follows. Section 2 presents stochastic SHARUCD framework developed within task force created support public health managers during crisis. As an extension basic SHAR (Susceptible-Hospitalized-Asymptomatic-Recovered) model, models were parameterized validated empirical data for Basque Country, Spain, have been used (up until now) monitor over course pandemic. 3 introduces kinetic theory active particles (KTAP) disease. With exploratory analysis, we present possible way deal heterogeneity multiscale features. 4 concludes work, discussion both further perspectives description.

Understanding protected area resilience: a multi-scale, social-ecological approach.

Protected areas (PAs) remain central to the conservation of biodiversity. Classical PAs were conceived as areas that would be set aside to maintain a natural state with minimal human influence. However, global environmental change and growing cross-scale anthropogenic influences mean that PAs can no longer be thought of as ecological islands that function independently of the broader social-eco...

Antioxidant Supplements: A Promising Approach to improving COVID-19 Demonstrations

Severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that causes COVID-19 could progress to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The immune cells' migration in response to virus lead to cell death by releasing oxidizing free radicals. These oxidizing free radicals mediate NF-κB activation and induce transcription of cytokine-producing genes that eventually a cytokine storm ensues...

A GIS-based multi-scale approach to habitat suitability modeling

The aim of this study is to develop a method by means of which it is possible to produce georeferenced ecological information about the habitat requirements of different species. The integrated habitat suitability index approach includes the steps of constructing habitat suitability models, producing data needed in models, evaluating of target areas based on habitat factors, and combining vario...
